It’s funny how a piece of clothing can make you feel like you are your at extra best… New Shoes make you run fast… Those jeans make your butt look extra sweet… That leather jacket actually makes you the 6th member of that strokes (in your mind, haha).
For me, in middle school, it was a Chicago Bulls jacket and hat combo, both made by a company called STARTER. Just a little while ago I was poking through my friend JNR SNCHZ’s stuff and found the exact jacket I kinda indefinitely borrowed from my friend Joey’s older brother way back when…

My Running Man, Kick Step, Roger Rabbit… into Cabbage Patch, Robo Cop, butterfly combo was never so fly without this one item of clothing. Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock said it takes two, well not with this cloak of awesomeness, I was a star all on my own… a chunky little 4-foot tall, bouncing star on a rubberized gymnasium floor…
One question? What was with everyone hanging their jackets off the shoulders? You know what I’m saying… like our jacket was falling off on purpose? Maybe that’s where pants sagging came from… I dunno…
Anyway, shout out to Joey Shryock, his older brother Steve (who had the illest steps and lightning bolts that you ever did see in a white dude’s hair), DJ’s that played middle school dances and rocked Kid n’ Play, Digital Underground, Pete Rock, Grand Puba… many, many, many more.

Fashion is amazing and at the same time a bit crazy. I remember when I went to school all the girls wore white ‘Go Go Boots’. with tassles on the tops. If you wore a pair of these boots you were awesome.
Yes..my sisters and I had them! And there was a time when everyone who was anyone wore aviation hats. These were found at Sunny Surplus stores.
Fashion can indeed make you feel like your an amazingly well dressed person..even though others might not think it so much!
lol Getting dressed up in something you love can make you feel like a million bucks. Of course I love to accessorize.
“My Running Man, Kick Step, Roger Rabbit… into Cabbage Patch, Robo Cop, butterfly combo”
present day kids/teens don’t have easy dance moves that will one day date them. i mean really… have you tried to “jerk” not exactly easy. hahaha. lets bring it back to the dancefloor!
<3 alisa!
I get it too.
I’d like to wear GC sweaters and t-shirts, but i dont buy online and I cant find them anywhere -.-
And I love wearing DCMA stuff.
I had a cowboys starter jacket… back when the cowboys were legit because of E. Smith and Sanders.
My jersey made me feel like such a bad ass. Haha, why is it always sports teams from the 90′s that make us feel like such awesome people?
Now that I’m “grown up” it’s music. weird.
Ok its a snuggle day and your probably asking yourself what does she mean. It’s pouring here there is lightning and thunder, we are under a weather advisory for lightning and thunderstorms. Cuddle or Snuggle days are when you stay in bed and watch movies and cuddle and snuggle all day long, but since you cant do that open that jacket and let me in for a minute I am cold so hold me tight haha.
Love you lots and lots
XOXO ~b
P.S. If your still in L.A. get that box you were supposed to get in December please.
Yeah…..
I was like that with my bad brains shirt back in the day. The yellow one with the lightning striking Congress.
I put that on and I swear I felt like I could face anyone down.
I shouldnt have tried it though…didnt end well………
Jon
what i would give to get my hand on you x
It was all about the Charlotte Hornets, buddy! And Muggsy Bogues!
Those jackets were always *the* jacket to have & I waited patiently (or not) and was on my best behavior to convince my parents I earned one. And it was a team I LIKED.
I picked Charlotte. I loved watching Muggsy Bogues. I still love the NBA. Good post, Josh!
I def. know what you mean! Clothes and certain, special people just make you feel invincible!
I LOVE your blogs Josh. You seriously are the coolest dude. You always inspire me
keep it up Josh!!!
question, how do you feel about outfit repeaters. im a 17 year old girl, but these days theres no point of having a fave piece of clothing, coz if you wear it more than once out in public and people see you, then you can never wear it again, otherwise your an outfit repeater..
lifes tough being a teenager
My little brother had the same combo & he thought he was the bomb. He’s gonna be 30 in a couple weeks so I might have to find the old jacket for him.
Awsom post! I look forward to reading your post every day. It is the highlight of my day! Keep up the good work.
