I never said made the rules… See wait a minute, writing stuff like this makes me feel really lame, these “imaginary conversations” people have with an invisible audience… this is why the whole blogging thing feels real “I saw Sex in the City and I knew I had to move to New York”… Gross man, so gross… Anyway, over the holiday trip to LA my brother and a couple friends of mine were pummeling for not posting anything on…
here. Here’s the thought of the day…
BOOTLEG
I don’t know who makes the rules on stuff like this, I’m not saying I do, but it’s my opinion that FAKE GUCCI is 10X better than anything GUCCI ever really made (just my opinion Mano)… on the other hand FAKE SUPRAs are really gnarly… I think my opinion just comes from the idea that certain mass-consumer-conditioned-habits to be logo-driven are kinda base level. Then again I’m open to the idea that 4 years in business school put me on to a hyper-awareness of this occurances… it definitely didn’t put me on to any sweet writing skills, did it? haha
Does anyone have other examples of this? I mean, do you feel me when it comes to the idea that some bootlegs are better than the real and then some things are just un-bootleggable?
I LOVE BOOTLEG GUCCI TEN TIMES MORE THAN ANYTHING “REAL” GUCCI…
FAKE SUPRA? aw man… that sh*t is pitiful…
seriously, I think I’d rather see “dude keds” than FAKE SUPRAs… and (I love you England but…) I AM NOT A FAN OF THE “DUDE KEDS” TREND!
There is my thought for the day… I will try to have at least one thought a day, worthy of public forum. haha

What is the Dude Ked’s trend?
The only thing i can think of is unofficial band merchandise that people sell outside venues.
Some designs and shirts I’ve come across is beyond a joke.
wrong link in my name. :/
Supra’s real or fake are awful not to mention SUPRA-EXPENSIVE! ..What a waste.
Guys and Gals in my home town now like to wear them with skinny jeans..think they just try and combine fashions and it ends up looking pretty silly.
I spy Fendi, Rolex, Chanel, Nike, Louis Vuitton and Gucci all in one shoe- not sure my thoughts on this?
I know what you mean.
Often consumers know they’re wearing fake clothes and accessories but don’t care. For me it depends… I don’t need a very expensive bag or jeans, for example.
The only bad thing is that the money from the sale of fake designer clothes and accessories may also be used to fund organised crime.
Good post, Josh!
Hope you feel better
XOXO
laughing…
Josh, the funniest part of this hearing your voice in my head as I read your rant. You should have done this in video.
I think your right. But i mean you’ve got to take into account that sometimes the good things are just full stop better made than the cheap stuff.
But i have to admit if i see someone rocking a pair of fke converse i’m a little ticked off (you know the kind that has like ‘conserve allstrap’ written on it instead of ‘converse allstar’) But if the people wearing them have customized them and made them their own , then i’m exicted and think that they are rocking what they got. Taking something and making it your own rather than buying something someone has said is good, is a way better thing to do
Now before someone says but we don’t have the money for designer clothes. YOU DON’T NEED DESIGNER CLOTHES. Say it with me people: Individuality. You can go to a Salvation army and get 5 rocking outfits (accessories and all) for the same price as one guccie top or whatever. And i’ll also tell you all something else. Sometimes the Highend fashions have already come out months before ont he streets, then these companies steal these street cred deisgns sew a label into them and sell them for 5 times the amount it cost the person rocking it in the first place to create. I could go on forever about this.
I hope your happy….i’m gonna be going on like this all day now.
Vivienne
i wo uld rock that sweater but kicks are way to la gear for me bro!
I respectfully disagree, Vivienne. While designer clothes certainly are not listed among Maslow’s hierarchy of our human needs, and nobody exactly NEEDS to own expensive labels, designer clothes do offer something special in regards to fashion, something which cannot be entirely replaced by thrift and/or savvy shopping.
Labels like Rodarte, Balmain, Margiela, whatever, they’re really, really original in their production of clothing, besides the quality of material made. And, they’re sometimes outlandish. They’re totally fun. That is the epitome of fashion, for me.
I mean, this is coming from a total thrifter. I’ll be in school another five years before I achieve my doctorate, can begin my professional career. And, I don’t exactly think the latest in designer wear would at all be considered appropriate in my occupational sphere, anyway.
But, I strongly argue in defense of designer labels. The quality and vision is just unbelievable; you’ll never find anything like those garments for anything less than the some-odd thousand they cost. And, a single designer accessory can easily make any t-shirt and jeans outfit.
That said, if you’re a dedicated thrifter, you can surely adopt a fashionable look and be a style maven, be totally individualistic. But it’s supplementing your five dollar digs with the latest RTW in styles that cannot be found elsewhere, that’s what makes a Kate Moss or Alexa Chung, I’d say.
P.S. All those bodycon dresses that every shop is carrying will never compete with an authentic vintage French-made Alaia, period.
Oh, I’m a total idiot today. I neglected Vivienne’s first sentence and thereby misread her post! HA! Whoops. I think we’re likely on close to the same page, if not exactly. So, I’m just supplementing then.
Thanks for clearing that up when i read your post i was like…isn’t that what i was just trying to say. But i’m glad you agree with me…many people give me blank stares when I say tings like that
Viv
