The TV’s on and everyone stays calm…

It’s never normal for me… when I find myself in a…remote place and a friend’s song comes on the radio, it always makes me so surprised, so excited. I think it forever will. I was over in Europe last month traveling around and walked into a store to hear my friend and yours, Gabe Saporta’s voice blaring *LOUD* through the speakers… I don’t know if you get it, but being in a far away place, nobody speaks English, you don’t know if you have enough of these coins to get coffee, your cell phone doesn’t work, your watch is wrong… and then you hear your pals voice. It always makes me look around, like the buddy is in the room, they sorta always are in a way.

I met “Gabe from New Jersey” years and years ago… like another Lifetime .(if you get that joke I love you) I worked at a music venue in D.C. and Gabe’s band played there a bunch. His music has always been rad, but actually, I always had a good time talking to him about life, politics, theories, history… stuff like that. No kidding, the guy always surprises me with where his head is at…

Anyway… long story short, I’ve known Gabe for a minute, we both live in New York now, I’m a DJ and he’s got new songs. I get to play his songs in rooms full of people around the world now and tomorrow night I get to be in the same town with my pal and play his songs at the same time. Below is one of my favorite remixes to play…

And when I have my i-pod on, during the day… if I make you a mix-tape, it’ll probably have this one on it… that time, for me, will never be forgotten and always fondly remembered. It takes me back…

Gabriel is the type of person who just knows the right things to say. He’s always speaking the truth no matter how many people disagree. I like that about him, hence the reason I look up to the man. He speaks the words I wish I could speak and more. I enjoy hearing other people like yourself speaking so highly of Gabe, because it gives me reassurance that I’m not crazy and my reasons for admiration are totally legit. He’s like the big brother I never had, even if he doesn’t know it yet.

Lisa, no disrespect but there wasn’t a lot of English being spoken in Brussels… not that there should be. I was merely illustrating my own ineptness with handling foreign currency and frequent inability when it comes to map usage. I’m entirely vulnerable to the whole “Stranger in a Strange land” concept, I mean have you been to Manhattan? It’s very user friendly… No disrespect was meant to anyone, I love traveling, it just gets lonely alone… always glad I have the music.

Well, actually there should be. We all learn english in school for almost 8 years! Sad to hear there are still people who can’t speak.
But New York (and the whole US) is very different compared to Europe. You have these gridiron style and it’s very easy to find the streets and the right way. We have these kinda circles and for strangers it’s very confusing. Did you ever drive a car in Europe? It’s horrible.
See it positive, Josh. You can turn the IPod off… but you can’t turn a annoying person off, haha.
Take care

That remix is INSANE. I’m dancing in my chair right now. I feel like I’m out with a bunch of people and I’m just sitting here. If you ever come down to Ottawa Ontario (HAH not likely) play this, I’ll be dancing on a chair somewhere if you do.
